PM to Meet with Journalists in Early May

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Manet will meet with selected members of the media for the first time on May 3, 2024.

Minister of Information Net Pheaktra said that the current administration has designated May 3 as Freedom of the Press Day, on which the PM will hold an annual press conference starting this year.

"For 2024, [Prime Minister Hun Manet] has agreed in principle to continue to hold the sixth meeting with the media on May 3 every year for Freedom of the Press Day," he stated.

Former Prime Minister Hun Sen held five such meetings with the media during his tenure. This will be Prime Minister Hun Manet’s first media conference since taking over in August.

According to the Ministry of Information, there are 10,000 journalists in Cambodia, with more than 2,000 media outlets.
